Are You In Dysfunctional Burnout? Burnout is increasingly common. People feel stuck, lost, emotional, frustrated and indecisive and don’t know why. They want to quit their jobs or feel unexcited about life but don’t know which direction to go. They no longer trust their decisions. They think they are the problem – but usually, it is their environment, life, career, or groups that are not correct for them. Much like when a plant starts to wilt, we try to fix the conditions. We cannot ‘fix’ the plant. So if you’ve been struggling with your self-wellness, let’s do a quick check-in. These 12 questions are designed to gauge your level of energetic burnout and highlight the areas that might need attention (it only takes a few minutes). 1. Describe your general energy levels: Some people cannot maintain progressive energy throughout day; they have energy cycles, sometimes experiencing high energy, followed by low or zero energy. They often stay in constant burnout because they don't maximize their rest period, or perpetuate mental burnout by feeling shame, guilt or 'lazy' when they rest. When you get a deadline, email, or new task you: Your reaction gives insight into your nervous system response and anxiety levels, which can be triggered by fixed tasks, deadlines, or an inability to manage time. Do you often get stuck in catasrophizing or fearful thinking? Some people are highly detail orientated, which can be great when used in the right situations. When left unused, it can cause havoc on creating horror movies in the mind. Nope, my inner voice is my best cheerleader! How would you describe your ability to stick to goals? Some people do not function with strict goals and structured planning. They require loose goals and flexible planning. If you use the wrong goal-setting style, it can trigger procrastination, low motivation, and task avoidance.
